T20 World Cup 2026 is going to start from 7th February. This tournament will be played hosted by India and Sri Lanka, for which all the teams have intensified their preparations. Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga has got a big responsibility. In view of this big tournament, a team has appointed Lasith Malinga as fast bowling consultant. However, he will work with this team for only 21 days.

Lasith Malinga got big responsibility

Sri Lanka Cricket Board has appointed former legendary fast bowler Lasith Malinga as the fast bowling consultant of the national team. This appointment has been made for a limited time, which will be from 15 December 2025 to 25 January 2026. Malinga's job is to prepare the team's fast bowlers for the T20 World Cup starting in February. Malinga, one of the best bowlers of his time in white ball cricket, took more than 500 wickets in his international career. His unique slinging action and yorker balls always created problems for the opposing batsmen. He performed brilliantly for Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup held in Bangladesh in 2014 and led the team to its only T20 World title so far.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board said in a statement, 'Sri Lanka Cricket aims to take advantage of Malinga's vast international experience and renowned expertise in death bowling to strengthen Sri Lanka's preparations for the upcoming World Cup, especially in the shortest format of the game.'

Strong career of Lasith Malinga

Malinga's entry into the Sri Lankan cricket team was in 2004. During his international career, he took 101 wickets in 30 test matches. Malinga was very successful in ODI, he took 338 wickets in his name, in T20 he took 107 wickets. Apart from this, Malinga took 179 wickets in a total of 127 matches in IPL and his economy rate was 6.88. Malinga not only earned name in his long career but also earned handsomely. According to reports, his total wealth is around Rs 75 crore. During this period he earned a lot from IPL.
