What is the validity of a driving license?
A private driving license is typically valid for 20 years from the date of issue, or until you reach 40–50 years of age. Commercial driving licenses, on the other hand, must be renewed every 3 to 5 years. You can apply for renewal up to a year before your DL expires. After the license expires, there’s a 30-day grace period, during which no penalty is imposed. Any delay after these period results in a late fee. If the license expires for more than 5 years, you may need to obtain a new license or retake the test.
