The Chillenden Murders delves into the horrific deaths of mother and daughter Lin and Megan Russell - but what happened to nine-year-old Josie Russell?
Two years after the documentary came out on Channel 5, The Chillenden Murders: Who Killed Lin and Megan? is now ready to watch on Netflix.
The one-off special delves into the traumatic events of July 1996 when 45-year-old Lin Russell and her daughters Josie, nine, and Megan, six, were walking down a country lane in Chillenden, Kent.
They had just attended a swimming gala at a local school and were walking back home when they were approached by a man who proceeded to tie them up and bludgeon them to death with a hammer.
The man, who police later identified as Michael Stone, was said to have viciously murdered Lin, Megan and their family dog Lucy, while Josie Russell survived the attack.
Josie may have been the only survivor, but she didn't leave the incident unscathed as she suffered severe head wounds and had to have extensive surgery to replace some of her skull with a titanium plate.
Her speech and memory functions were also severely damaged, but over time she was able to make a full recovery.
After the attack, Josie and her dad Shaun Russell moved back to Gwynedd, North Wales, where they first lived as a family before moving to Kent.
Josie went on to graduate in design and textiles at Bangor University and continues to work as a successful artist, inspired by the Welsh landscapes, selling her work online and at exhibitions.
It was in 2012 that Josie used her trust fund, as well as the compensation from the Criminal Injuries Board, to purchase her family's former home in Snowdonia, Wales, where she had many happy memories.
The Standard reported Josie saying: "It just feels right here. I'm going home and I'll never leave."
Josie shares her home with long-term fiance Iwan Griffith who she celebrated her 20th anniversary with this week, having met at a pub on New Year's Eve 2005.
During an interview on Lorraine, Josie simply said: "I've just got to get on with life and just carry on. I love my job, it's all fine. Happy."
