The two Indian players, Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj, will reunite with their State team Hyderabad and feature in the upcoming matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The pairing of two international stars will take place in the match of Chandigarh vs Hyderabad in Rajkot on January 3. Notably, Varma will be the leader of the team.

Tilak Varma, Mohammed Siraj To Save Hyderabad From Last Position

Reviving and adding to the current Sportstar, the batting all-rounder will be playing the next two games. Meanwhile, the bowler will be allowed to take part in the next three games. Tilak Varma is going to be at the Hyderabad games on January 3 and 6, against Bengaluru. Both matches are set to happen at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, and live streaming will be provided.

On the other hand, there is a possibility of Mohammed Siraj being seen in the match between Hyderabad and Jammu & Kashmir on January 8, taking place in Saurashtra.

Due to continuously playing with the Indian team, Varma has played just one match for Hyderabad in the current domestic season. In the match between Hyderabad and Delhi in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, the captain Varma got out without scoring. He bowled six overs in total during the two innings. Unfortunately, he could not take any wicket and ended up giving away 33 runs.

In the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025, Siraj was the joint fourth top wicket-taker of the Hyderabad team with a total of four matches played, taking seven wickets and conceding runs at an average of 5.81.

The T20 World Cup 2027 will take place with India and New Zealand playing five T20Is following the three ODIs before the WCS starts on February 7. Tilak Varma has been included in the T20 teams for the next two series. This means he will not participate in Hyderabad’s Ranji match that will be played from January 22 onwards.

The availability of the Indian players is a direct consequence of the BCCI’s mandate that the Indian players should participate in the domestic circuit as much as possible. The fact that Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj will be present is a plus, but it might not be enough to alter the fate of the struggling State team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 Elite B Group. They have already lost four matches in a row and currently sit at the bottom of the table, with only three matches left to play.

The tournament will only allow the first two teams to progress further. Presently, Uttar Pradesh, riding high on their four-match winning streak, and Vidarbha, with the record of three wins, are occupying the top two positions. Bengal and Baroda also appear to be in a tight race, having registered three victories each.
