When big films were being discussed at the Hindi box office and the audience’s eyes were fixed only on mainstream cinema, a small Gujarati film created history. Made without any big star, without heavy promotion and with a very limited budget, the film ‘Lalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate’ quietly became an all-time blockbuster. The special thing is that the Hindi audience is now aware of this tremendous success, because on public demand this film is being released in Hindi language on January 9.

The total budget of this film is said to be only Rs 50 lakh, but despite this it has done a business of more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. This film, released in Gujarati language on 10 October 2025, is attracting audiences in theaters even after about 90 days. It has received an excellent rating of 8.6 on IMDb, which clearly shows its popularity and audience engagement.

A story that touches the heart directly

‘Lalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate’ is an emotional and faith-filled story. The main character of the film, Lalo, is an ordinary rickshaw puller. He earns his living by taking tourists around in his daily life. One day he reaches a farmhouse for work, where he gets trapped in a strange situation. Despite all his efforts to get out of there, he fails. Difficulties in eating and drinking increase and the feeling of loneliness begins to break him from within.

Meanwhile, his family members at home get worried and lodge a complaint with the police, but no trace of Lalo is found. In this time of despair, Lalo appeals to Lord Krishna for help. He gets guidance and vision of Krishna, which changes the direction of his thinking and life. From here the film takes a spiritual and emotional turn.

Comparison is being made with Kantara and 12th fail.

The film is being compared to ‘Kantara’ because faith and divine power have an important role in it too. At the same time, like ’12th Fail’, it also shows the story of struggle and self-confidence of the common man. However, the presentation of ‘Lalo’ is very simple and calm, in which truth is more visible than appearance.

Simplicity is the greatest strength

The biggest quality of this film is its simplicity. No grand sets, no heavy VFX – everything is down to earth. Background music gives more depth to the emotion of the story. The shooting was done very peacefully at local locations. According to actor Karan Joshi, during the shooting the local people were not even told that the film was being made. At many places, people were told that a pre-wedding shoot was going on, so that the atmosphere remained comfortable.
