Instagram has started rolling out a new Quick Share feature for both Android and iOS users, making it easier than ever to share posts with people you interact with the most. This update is aimed at improving the overall user experience by reducing the time and steps required to send photos, videos, or reels via direct messages.
Although the platform has not made a formal announcement regarding the feature’s global launch, several users have already spotted it on their devices. The feature is currently being introduced gradually, which means availability may vary depending on region, app version, and account activity.
The Quick Share feature allows users to instantly send posts to their most frequently contacted accounts. Instead of opening the entire Direct Messages (DM) list, users can now access a compact popup that displays their top four contacts based on interaction history.
Previously, sharing a post on Instagram involved tapping the send button and scrolling through a long list of chats. With Quick Share, this process is significantly faster and more intuitive.
The new feature is integrated directly into the send icon located beneath every Instagram post. It works with:
Photos
Videos
Reels
Once enabled on your account, the feature becomes visible through a simple long-press action.
If the feature is available on your account, follow these steps:
Open the Instagram app on your Android or iOS smartphone.
Scroll through your feed or open the specific post you want to share.
Tap and press and hold the send (paper plane) icon below the post.
A popup window will appear showing profile pictures of up to four users you interact with the most.
Slide your finger toward the profile of the person you want to share the post with and release.
The post will be instantly sent to that user’s DM without opening the chat list.
Instagram’s Quick Share option is designed to save time and improve convenience. It is especially useful for users who frequently share content with close friends, family members, or colleagues. By minimizing taps and eliminating unnecessary scrolling, Instagram is focusing on faster communication and smoother navigation.
Since the rollout is gradual, not all users may see the feature immediately. To improve your chances of receiving it:
Keep the Instagram app updated
Use DMs regularly
Interact consistently with specific accounts
If you don’t see the option yet, it is likely to arrive in future updates.
The Quick Share feature is a small but meaningful upgrade that enhances Instagram’s usability. By prioritizing frequently contacted users, the platform continues to streamline social sharing and make everyday interactions more efficient.
