People are only just discovering the correct way to wear wedding and engagement rings together following marriage.

When it comes to the big day, brides can often feel uncertain about what to do with their engagement ring.

Some opt to transfer the ring to a different finger, or remove it entirely, whilst others keep it in place and have their wedding band positioned alongside it.

Amid the confusion, hosts of The Unfiltered Bride podcast, presented by industry professionals Georgie and Beth, sought clarity from one of their guests on the proper protocol for brides.

In a video shared on TikTok, Holly Robinson, owner of Holly Robinson Jewellery in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, clarified the correct order for wearing wedding and engagement rings.

Holly explained: "So on the day when you're getting married, put your engagement ring on your right hand."

The host immediately questioned: "What if it doesn't fit?".

She replied: "Give it to your maid of honour. If you don't trust her because you said too many drinks give, it to your mum. If you don't like her, leave it in your room."

She then outlined that the wedding band should go on the left hand where the engagement ring previously sat and should never be taken off due to an old wives' tale.

The superstition suggests the ring has been placed on your finger permanently, and removing it brings bad luck that can represent infidelity or a broken commitment. Holly remarked: "Your wedding ring goes on. Old wives tale, your wedding ring never comes off. So you keep your wedding ring underneath your engagement ring, closest to your knuckle."

Despite Holly's guidance on the matter, opinions remained divided amongst viewers regarding ring placement.

One user commented: "My wedding ring comes off on a daily basis for skincare, Hand cream, cooking, night time, hand washing etc.... It's only a symbolic piece of metal and doesn't 'break' my marriage, vows or commitment if it comes off."

Another individual stated: "My wedding ring fits perfectly around my engagement ring and thought it would look odd on its own, its stayed on top since wedding day."

A third remarked: "Never taken my wedding ring off - 30 years this year."

A fourth contributed: "I was told to put my engagement ring last so it's easier to get off when you're cleaning."
