Since the advent of social media, we've started focusing more on showing off and less on our actual needs. We're spending more on unnecessary things and less on essentials. The 30-Day Rule helps you control these unnecessary expenses. Let's learn how you can use it.

How to Use the 30-Day Rule:

First, you need to make a list of your essential expenses every month.

Now, if you want to buy something in addition to these essentials, wait for 30 days.

Save that item or service to your wish list.

If you still feel the need for it after 30 days, then buy it.

This way, you'll be able to understand the difference between necessary and unnecessary expenses more effectively.

You can also use the 50:30:20 rule to divide your salary effectively.

What is the 50:30:20 Rule?

50% - For essential expenses

30% - For discretionary expenses

20% - For savings and investments

You need to divide your monthly salary according to the 50:30:20 rule. First, you have to allocate 50 percent of your salary for essential expenses. Now, you can spend 30 percent on discretionary expenses like buying a new dress, going out, watching a movie, etc.

The remaining 20 percent can be used for savings or investments. Alternatively, you can use 20 percent for discretionary expenses and 30 percent for savings and investments. This way, your savings and investment amount will increase even more.
