A new and dangerous malware targeting Android smartphones has emerged, operating in a way that differs from traditional hacking methods. While malware is typically designed to steal user data or conduct espionage, this new AI-based malware focuses on gradually degrading the phone's performance—without the user even noticing.

According to reports, this malware identifies and automatically clicks on advertisements displayed on the phone. Surprisingly, this happens in the background, leaving the user unaware of why their phone is slowing down or why the battery is draining so quickly.

How does this AI-powered malware work?

According to a report by the cybersecurity company Dr. Web, this malware utilizes artificial intelligence. It can recognize the content displayed on the screen and automatically interacts with any advertisements that appear.

It remains constantly active in the background, placing an extra load on the phone's processor and battery. This is why the phone gradually starts to slow down.

Where is this threat spreading from?

Researchers say this malware is spreading through certain Android apps. Some of these apps have been found on Xiaomi's GetApps store and other third-party app stores. These are platforms where users have to sideload apps.

This threat often increases when people download APK files, modded apps, or cracked versions from unknown sources.

How to protect yourself?

Only download apps from the Google Play Store.

Avoid unknown APKs or modded apps.

Keep your phone's Android updates and security patches up to date.

Keep Google Play Protect enabled.

Do not grant unnecessary permissions to any app.

AI-based cyber threats are likely to become even more sophisticated in the future. Therefore, users must be vigilant online and avoid even minor lapses in security.
