King Charles' private Norfolk estate has had to close one area today as Storm Chandra continues to wreak havoc. The storm, which has brought in heavy wind and rain, has meant that the children's play area on the estate has had to close.
The play area, alongside The Royal Parkland and Courtyard facilities, is usually open year-round with free access. It is not known when the play area will reopen. A notice on the Sandringham website reads: "Due to high winds, we have made the decision to close the Children's Play Area for the safety of our visitors. We advise you to take extra care when exploring the Estate grounds today."
The wider estate remains open to visitors, however people have been urged to take care.
It is believed members of staff on the Sandringham Estate will be keeping an eye on weather conditions.
While Sandringham House is no doubt the greatest attraction of the estate, it is believed the children's playground is also very popular.
This is because, as well as being free to access, it has a range of play equipment for children to explore, with much of the equipment having been made from wood.
The storm today is not believed to have impacted any other royal residences.
King Charles is not at the Sandringham Estate today, and is instead in London hosting a reception to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, which takes place annually on January 27. This is to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
The reception is being held at Buckingham Palace, with Queen Camilla also present.
