Patna. Bihar government is going to take a big step towards controlling the growing coaching institutes in the state. The new coaching policy has been finalized with the aim of making the education system more transparent and disciplined. The Education Department has prepared a revised draft and sent it to the Finance and Law Department for consent. After getting approval from there, it will be presented to the cabinet of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for approval.

The government plans to implement this new coaching policy in the entire state with the beginning of the academic session 2026-27, i.e. from April 2026. Even before this, an attempt was made to implement this policy, but the cabinet had given instructions to amend some points. Now the policy has been redrafted incorporating those suggestions.

Coaching institutes will not open near schools

The most important provision in the revised policy is that no government teacher will be able to teach in any coaching institute. If evidence is found of any teacher teaching under coaching, then the education department will take strict action based on the evidence. Apart from this, no permission will be given to open coaching centers in the vicinity of any government or private school and educational institution. There will be a complete ban on running coaching during school hours.

Monitoring committee will be formed at the district level

Under the new coaching policy, a committee will be formed in every district under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate (DM). This committee will allow registration and operation of coaching institutes in the district. No coaching institute will be able to operate without registration.

Transparency regarding fees mandatory

Coaching institutes will have to give complete details of all their course fees at the time of registration. Along with this, it will be mandatory to display information to fees publicly in the institute premises. If a complaint is received about arbitrary or excessive fee collection at any coaching center, a team of officials will investigate and if found guilty, strict action will be taken.

Benefits to students and parents

The government believes that this new policy will reduce the financial burden on students and parents and commercialization of education will stop. Along with this, effective control can also be established on the parallel coaching system which harms the education of government schools.
