Rain continued in most states of India as well as snowfall in the hilly areas. There will be a change in the weather due to two western disturbances one after the other in the past day. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light to moderate rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan regions between January 31 and February 3, 2026. At the same time, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the plains of North-West India and adjacent Central India during this period, which will be seen at different places.

According to the Meteorological Department, at some places in the mountains, this rain and snowfall can spread to a large area. Apart from this, there is a possibility of dense fog in the morning in many areas of North-West India and surrounding Central India till January 31.

Fog condition in last 24 hours

Very dense fog remained in many areas of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and western Uttar Pradesh. Visibility at these places was less than 50 meters. Whereas dense fog was seen in parts of Odisha, Punjab, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Western Madhya Pradesh, where visibility remained between 50 to 199 meters.

Where 200 meters or less visibility was recorded, Chandbali in Odisha (50 meters), Babalaspur in Himachal Pradesh (50), Pantnagar in Uttarakhand (0), Khatima (30), Patiala in Punjab (150), Ambala in Haryana and Chandigarh (20), Hisar (30), Karnal (30), Narnaul (10), Bhiwani (10), Chandigarh (100).

Also Agra IAF (0), Bareilly (40), Hindon IAF and Najibabad (50), Aligarh, Shahjahanpur and Jhansi (100) of western Uttar Pradesh and Bahraich (80), Zamgarh, Varanasi AP and Lucknow AP (100), Fursatganj (200) of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Visibility was recorded in West Rajasthan: Churu (90), Bhilwara (90) in East Rajasthan, Piplani (90) and Gwalior (100) in West Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, frost conditions persist on the ground in Uttarakhand.

Rain and weather forecast

There is every possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Madhya Pradesh on 01 and 02 February and in Chhattisgarh on 02 February. A new western disturbance may affect northwest India from the night of 30 January 2026.

Due to its impact, there may be isolated rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh on 31 January and 01 February, in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on 01 February and in Uttarakhand on 01 and 02 February with thunder, lightning and strong winds of 30–40 km per hour.

There is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms in Rajasthan between January 31 and February 3. Frost conditions may persist in Uttarakhand on 29 and 30 January.

There will be no major change in minimum temperatures over northwest India for the next 2 days. After this, the temperature may increase by 3–5 degrees Celsius in the next 3 days. Then the temperature is likely to drop by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next 2 days.

Minimum temperatures may rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius over central India in the next 24 hours. After this the temperature may drop by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next 2 days. After this, there is likely to be no significant change in the temperature.
