The latest episode of The Chase saw two contestants take on Shaun "The Dark Destroyer" Wallace in a nail-biting final chase with £100,000 at stake - but as soon as it was confirmed, viewers were predicting they wouldn't win. With such a huge sum at stake, fans of the show were certain The Chaser wasn't going to let them best him, with some believing he got easier questions as host Bradley Walsh managed proceedings on the ITV quiz show.
Taking to X, one wrote: "They had two hopes of winning that, no hope and Bob Hope." Another added: "#TheChase Questions for a school kid for Sean today. No way they're giving away £100k. Load of c***." A third chimed in: "I see the contestants got the 'absolute b*ll***s' set of questions on the final chase because there was 100k on the line." A fourth highlighted the statistics writing: "This is the 15th time there has been a prize fund of £100,000 on the daytime show. But only 3 of those teams, so far, have won."
A fifth observed: "Poor from Shaun. If they had just a few more, they could've won. He's always been the worst Chaser. But hey, at least he won."
Meanwhile, a sixth shared: "Well, that's that, I guess. That £100K really was as good as dust."
Bryony, 27, a digital marketing manager from Sheffield and Chris, 36, a programme delivery lead from Barton, were the last two standing after retired Leicester business owner Roger, 60, and Essex admin manager Cecilia, 27, found themselves making the walk of shame after getting knocked out during their cash builder.
As Chris took to the floor for his cash builder, there was only £1,000 in the prize pot. However, he opted for the higher offer of £99,000 and secured it for the team's fund.
When it came to the final chase, the pair struggled, only managing to get a head start of 13 on Shaun.
Despite this, they had three opportunities to push back when he got a question wrong, but they managed only one, and he easily beat them with 26 left on the clock.
Bradley complimented the team on their efforts, saying: "Well played to you, Chris, for getting back the money for a start and well played to you, Ronnie, for getting there...you've been a great team and bundles of fun.
Meanwhile, Shaun signed off, telling them, "Well, Chris, you made an exciting game. You really did, and so did you. Bryony, but at the end of the day, it's just another day at the office."
