Most of the people visiting Delhi see Rashtrapati Bhavan only from outside. It is generally believed that the official residence of the President of India remains closed to the general public. However, some parts of Rashtrapati Bhavan are open to the public. By booking correctly and following the rules, you can visit the halls where heads of state meet foreign guests and where national awards ceremonies take place. Spread over 330 acres, Rashtrapati Bhavan is not just a building, but it is a symbol of India’s democracy, history and heritage. This magnificent H-shaped building is an architectural masterpiece with 340 rooms, which was designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker.

Which parts are open to visitors?

Selected parts of the main building of Rashtrapati Bhavan are open to the public. During the visit, you will be taken to the halls where the President meets international guests and where formal banquets are held. You can also see the hall where national awards ceremonies take place, the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, and portraits of all the Presidents of India. The entire tour is conducted in a group with a guide.

Ticket Booking, Price and Visit Timings

Online booking is necessary for entry into Rashtrapati Bhavan. Booking can be done only from the official website visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in. After booking, there is a security check, and then entry with a guided group. The ticket price to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan is ₹ 50 per person. Visits last approximately 45 minutes. The main building is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Last entry is at 4:00 pm.

How to reach Rashtrapati Bhavan?

The nearest metro station to Rashtrapati Bhavan is Central Secretariat, from Gate No. 38, about 1 kilometer away. Patel Chowk Metro Station is about 2 kilometers from Gate No. 38.

Things to keep in mind before your visit:

Online booking is necessary to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan.
It is important to carry a valid identity card issued by the government. Mobile phones, cameras, bags and electronic devices are not allowed inside.
Circuit 1 is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Circuit 2 is open every day except Monday.
The circuit is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from August 3 to March.
