What to do if your ration card is lost?


When your ration card is lost or stolen, first, file an FIR at the nearest police station. Note that a copy of the FIR is required in many places for a duplicate ration card. After filing the FIR, keep a copy with you. You will need to submit a scanned copy of this FIR when applying online. After filing the FIR, you can apply for a duplicate ration card.


How to apply offline?


If you want to get a duplicate ration card offline, visit the District Food and Supply Department office in your district. Obtain the application form for a duplicate ration card and fill it carefully. Along with the application, submit a copy of the FIR from the police, photographs of family members, an Aadhaar card, and other necessary documents. Some states may also charge a fee for this. After submitting the documents, your application will be accepted. Generally, within a few days, the officials will inform you that your new card is ready. You can then collect it from your nearest ration office.


How to apply online?


If you want to get a ration card from home... Many states have made online portals available for obtaining duplicate ration cards. First, visit the official website of your state's Food and Supply Department. Select the duplicate ration card section and fill in the required information. Upload scanned copies of the necessary documents, which typically include the FIR (First Information Report), Aadhaar card, and family details. After submitting the application, you can track its status online.
