Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, beginning on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka, a host of players have already been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.

The competition, which features 20 teams, will end on March 8.

On February 2, all the teams finalised their rosters for the T20 World Cup, with co-host Sri Lanka becoming the last team to announce its squad.

Here is the list of players who will miss the tournament and their replacements:

Pat Cummins

The Australian Test and ODI captain failed to recover in time from a back injury and was replaced in the T20 World Cup squad by left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis. Cummins said his injury-forced withdrawal from the tournament was also driven by a desire to be fully fit for a demanding upcoming Test season, in which he hopes to play every match.

Adam Milne

The Kiwi pacer was ruled out of the tournament with a torn left ​hamstring and was replaced by Kyle Jamieson in the squad. Milne suffered the injury while bowling in the SA20 ​competition last month.

Tony de Zorzi

The left-handed South African batter will miss the T20 World Cup after suffering a right hamstring muscle tear during his team’s tour of India late last year. Swashbuckling southpaw Ryan Rickelton has been named as his replacement in the squad.

Donovan Ferreira

Ferreira sustained a fracture of his left clavicle during an SA20 match between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals last month. He was replaced by middle-order batter Tristan Stubbs in the Proteas squad.

Naveen-ul-Haq

The Afghanistan fast bowler was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a stress fracture in his right shoulder. Ziaur Rahman, a right-arm medium-pacer, was named as Naveen’s replacement in the squad.
