Everything has a limit. Being insensitive, becoming inhuman, and making fun of someone, there’s a very fine line between these three, which people are deliberately crossing these days. Trolling a celebrity on social media has become commonplace, without considering that the person on the other side is a living human being with emotions, a family, and their own personal struggles.
Arjun Kapoor‘s message on his mother Mona Shourie Kapoor’s birthday wasn’t just an emotional post, but the pain of a son. “Happy birthday, Mom. I miss you…” These words were enough to convey the emotional phase he was going through. Without naming anyone, without playing the victim, he simply said that life has been a little tough on him. But sadly, some people even made fun of this pain.
Arjun Kapoor didn’t just enter the film industry out of nowhere. He is the son of producer Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie Kapoor, but his journey wasn’t solely based on his surname. Before acting, he worked as an assistant director and producer. He debuted in 2012 with Ishaqzaade, which was a hit. After that came films like Gunday, 2 States, Ki & Ka, and Half Girlfriend. His performance in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was also appreciated by critics. Yes, indeed, some films didn’t do well, but which actor has a career filled only with hits?

The problem isn’t that films flop. The problem is that after every failure, a person is attacked personally. Criticising acting is one thing, but commenting on someone’s mother, their emotions, and their mental state is downright inhuman. Comments like “If you miss your mother so much, then go to her” are not only disgusting but also reveal a terrifying mindset. Today, we run hashtags about mental health, we post awareness messages, but when a celebrity quietly expresses their pain, those same people start tearing them down even more. If someone were to take an extreme step tomorrow, everyone would be asking, “Why have people become so insensitive?” But at that time, no one would take responsibility.
Arjun Kapoor hasn’t harmed anyone, nor has he spewed venom against anyone. He’s simply doing his job, and he’s been a part of the industry for years. If you don’t like him, that’s fine, but there’s no justification for this much hatred, this kind of vicious trolling.
The truth is, there’s a limit to trolling. And Arjun Kapoor absolutely does not deserve this level of hate. Mental health is not a joke, and neither is someone’s pain.
