Television presenter Carol Vorderman has opened up about her personal life, revealing how she has chosen to live it.

The former Countdown presenter, 65, spoke earlier this month about her political views and personal experiences, and how these have shaped her current outlook.

Carol has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Royal Navy officer Christopher Mather in 1985, when she was 24, though the union ended the following year. She later married Patrick King in 1990, with whom she had two children, Katie and Cameron, before their divorce in 2000.

Following her marriages, Carol was in a relationship with journalist Des Kelly for five years until their split in 2006.

Speaking to the Telegraph about her views on relationships, Carol said she does "not want a full-time partner." She explained: "It doesn't suit how I want to live my life."

This isn't the first time Carol has spoken openly about her relationships and personal life in recent years.

Appearing on This Morning nearly four years ago, she reflected: "Our mothers told us that we should marry when we were still 18 or 19 or 20, so we grew up with that convention that you should find one partner for life. My view is not quite like that.

"I live my life in chapters, and this chapter since I was about 50. So for the last decade or so, I've lived a life which is much freer. I've never felt freer. So I have ignored looking for one person and I have a number of what I've called 'special friends'."

Away from television, Carol has been an impassioned political campaigner, advocating for change in UK politics.

In the same Telegraph interview, she criticised Reform UK MP and leader Nigel Farage, calling him "the worst thing." She added: "He doesn't turn up for the Prime Minister's Questions. He would destroy the NHS. This is a time where we all have to stand up and fight."

Mr Farage has since responded to Carol's criticism. When asked about her comments while outlining his plan to save Britain's pubs, he said: "People can abuse me all they like. I never ever bother to return the compliment.

"I might have teased people over the years for being damp rags, but I've never actually really verbally assaulted or abused anybody. I'm not going to start now."
