When selling a home, kerb appeal is important, and the front door is often the first thing prospective buyers see. According to an expert, certain colours can boost your home's value.
What's more, painting a front door is super simple if you fancy a change, and doesn't often require a professional to complete the job. Jack Malnick, managing director of Sell House Fast, has shared the "most valuable" front door colours. The expert said: "The colour of your front door can impact a house sale, influencing a buyer's initial impression of the property before they go inside.
"Even though it's possible for buyers to change the colour of the door once they've bought a property, the existing shade could be the difference between a quick sale and waiting for months for an offer.
"Neutral and minimalistic colours can be a good option for those planning on selling their home.
"These offer buyers the opportunity to visualise themselves living in the property, offering a blank canvas for them to inject their own personality into."
According to the expert, different door colours can say a lot about you and your home, giving buyers an initial impression of what the property will be like inside and whether it will be a good fit for them.
Jack explained how the "most valuable door colour" is blue, because it's associated with serenity and freedom. It also promotes a sense of calm among potential buyers.
The expert added: "White front doors can provide a blank slate that signifies a clean, peaceful and organised home while red front doors can add a touch of traditional elegance and personality to the property."
Black and green are also good options, with black offering a "mysterious" yet sophisticated look and green evoking feelings of trust and safety.
Green is an increasingly popular colour, with it also signifying prosperity, life and growth.
The expert said a blue front door could add £4,000 to your property's value, while a white one could add £3,400, and a red one could add £1,800.
