If you are going to fly from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) with your family or children, then there is good news for you. DIAL, the company that operates Delhi Airport, has launched a unique initiative Family At DEL to make the passenger experience more pleasant and stress-free.

Under this new service, people traveling with their families will no longer have to stand in long queues and wait for their turn like ordinary passengers. Separate and special arrangements have been made for them from entry to security check at the airport.

What is ‘Family At DEL’ initiative?

It is a traveller-centric program primarily aimed at meeting the specific needs of families. Often, while traveling with small children or the elderly, people have to put in a lot of effort during check-in and security check. Understanding this problem, DIAL has prepared this dedicated corridor for domestic flights at Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Who will be able to avail the benefit of this facility?

DIAL has also clarified the definition of ‘family’ so that passengers do not have any confusion. This facility can be availed by husband-wife and their children, mother with son or daughter, father with son or daughter and newly married couples.

Entry will be given from these special guests

To avoid crowding at the airport, selected gates have been reserved only for families. These include gate numbers 4B and 4C of Terminal 1, gate number 4B of Terminal 2 and gate numbers 3A and 3B of Terminal 3.

You will get these wonderful facilities

Under this service, an effort has been made to provide ‘end-to-end’ assistance to the families. Separate check-in counters and priority security lanes have been created for families to save time. If required, free buggy assistance will be provided to take passengers to the boarding gate. Additionally, free baby strollers will also be available for children. Specially trained ‘Family Assistants’ have been deployed at the airport, who will assist passengers at every step.

A separate seating area has been earmarked for families in the food court and a special menu has also been prepared for children. Modern baby care rooms for small children and special toilets for the physically challenged have been provided.

DIAL CEO’s statement

DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said- This initiative is part of our commitment to build a sensitive and inclusive airport. We know that traveling with kids can be challenging, so ‘Family at DEL’ has been designed to make the journey seamless and enjoyable.
