Bihar News: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the under-construction Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge on Sunday morning. During this, he along with top officials reached bridge number 54 and reviewed the progress of the construction work in detail. After inspection, the Chief Minister left for Patna. According to the information, he has directed the bridge construction agency to open the six-lane bridge till Bidupur as soon as possible. At present, this bridge has been opened from Kachchi Dargah to Raghopur, which has brought a lot of relief to the local people. After the construction of the bridge till Bidupur, the traffic pressure on Gandhi Setu will reduce to a great extent.
The construction work is going on at a fast pace and it is expected that the six-lane bridge till Bidupur will be commissioned by March 2026. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier inspected the construction work of this bridge on December 9, 2025 and had directed the agency to expedite the work.
In the first phase of this bridge, the Chief Minister had inaugurated the 4.57 km long road from NH-31 to Raghopur on 23 July 2024. After this, it has become easier than ever for the people of Raghopur to travel to Patna. This bridge has also become a strong alternative route connecting North and South Bihar.
This six-lane bridge, built at a cost of about Rs 5000 crore, connects Kachchi Dargah and Bidupur on the river Ganga. The total length of the bridge is 22.76 kilometers, of which 9.76 kilometers is built on the river Ganga. This bridge is based on extra dosed cable stay design, making it stronger and durable. In this project, a loan of Rs 3000 crore has been taken from the Asian Development Bank, while the Bihar government is spending Rs 2000 crore.
