IIT Madras: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched a Bachelor of Science program in Aeronautics and Space Technology. This undergraduate program will be conducted in online mode. Its focus will be on skill-based training in aeronautics, space systems, and related sectors. The program was launched on February 9th at the IIT Madras campus. Industry officials, including representatives from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the civil aviation sector, participated virtually in the event.



This course at IIT Madras has been launched to meet the growing demand for trained professionals in sectors such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, civil aviation, and space technology. IIT Madras stated that internship and placement support will be provided through its Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE).



Who can apply?

IIT's new UG program is for those who have passed Class 12 or its equivalent examination, including diploma holders. There is no limit on enrollment, and students do not need to qualify for IIT-JEE to apply. Learners can study at their own pace within the stipulated timeline. This course is also suitable for working professionals and students pursuing other degrees.

Scope after BS Aeronautics and Space Technology



After completing the BS Aeronautics and Space Technology course from IIT Madras, students will have opportunities in public sector units, global aerospace companies, startups, and engineering firms. Relevant recruiters include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam, GE Aerospace, Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell, Ansys, and Siemens. This course will also prepare students for GATE and higher studies at IITs and IISc.
