What is Musical Road?

Musical Road is such a special road, on which when the vehicle passes at a certain speed, a special tune is heard due to the vibration between the tire and the road. This tune is decided in advance and the structure of the road is prepared accordingly. In simple words, the small grooves made on the road produce music.

How does this technology work?

The basis of this technology is vibration and sound waves. Raised or recessed lines are made at certain distances on the road surface. When vehicle tires pass through these lines, vibration is generated.

  • The distance between each groove is kept different. This distance determines the different notes of music.
  • If the distance is less, the note will be louder and louder.
  • If the distance is greater, the tone will be slower and deeper.

The correct tune is heard only when the vehicle runs at the prescribed speed. The music gets spoiled if it is played too fast or too slow. In this way, this technology also motivates the driver to maintain the speed limit.

Where are Musical Roads made?

Musical Roads have been made in Japan, South Korea, America and some countries of Europe and now India has also joined this list. At many places, tunes of local folk songs or national songs are heard on the streets. It not only promotes tourism but also makes the driving experience memorable.

Why is this technology special?

  • Musical Road is not just entertainment.
  • It motivates the driver to drive at the prescribed speed.
  • Helps in reducing fatigue during long journeys.
  • Increases awareness towards road safety.
  • This is a unique way to attract people at low cost and promote safe driving.

If such roads are built in India in the future, then travel will not just become a means of covering distance but will become an experience full of music.
