Arsenalhave been told why Gabriel Magalhaes escaped a red card during their draw with Brentford in the Premier League. The Gunners were forced to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with the Bees on Thursday night in the top flight.

Noni Madueke opened the scoring for Arsenal in the second half, but Keane Lewis-Potter equalised for the home side at the Gtech Community Stadium, which saw the points shared in west London.

Mikel Arteta’sside now have a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League title race, and will be in FA Cup action this weekend before returning to top-flight duties next week with a clash against Wolves.

There were concerns during the game that Arsenalcould have been restricted to 10ten players, with Gabriel walking a disciplinary tightrope after being booked in the first half.

In the second half, Gabriel tackled Brentford forward Dango Ouattara, which led to many of the home supporters calling for the Arsenal defender to be issued a second yellow card and be given his marching orders.

Referee John Brooks opted not to book Gabriel a second time, which allowed the Gunners centre-back to complete the full 90 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium.

TNT Sports commentator Lucy Ward was watching the action unfold in west London, and gave her verdict on the challenge that saw Gabriel escape a second booking.

"He [Gabriel] probably didn't need to go for that, [Dango] Ouattara got his body in the way there” Ward said.

"The ball comes across and he just tries to swipe at the ball, he thinks he can get it, but Ouattara got to it first.

"A heart-in-mouth moment there for Gabriel. I reckon if he hadn't already had one, that would have been a first yellow card."
