Saddened by their sister's suicide, Hyderabad-based siblings Ganesh (44) and Dhanalakshmi (37) committed suicide in a hotel in Varanasi. He had come to immerse his sister's ashes. Police found Rs 6 lakh and a suicide note from the room.

Hyderabad: Two weeks after their much-loved sister committed suicide by hanging herself at home, a brother and sister committed suicide in a hotel room. Ganesh Gaur (44) and Dhanalakshmi Gaur (37) of Hyderabad were found dead in a hotel in Varanasi. Police said that a relative has revealed that both the brothers and sisters had come to Varanasi to immerse the ashes of their sister Amala Devi and they were deeply saddened by her death. Their mother died when they were all young. The father who brought him up had also passed away three years ago. SHO of Sigra police station, Sanjay Kumar Mishra said that when the brother and sister's cousin Swaroop came to know about their death, he reached Varanasi.

After their father's death, Ganesha and Lakshmi were emotionally and financially dependent on their elder sister. Both Ganesh and Lakshmi were not married. On January 28, his sister Amla, who was suffering from some health problems, passed away. Last Sunday the brother and sister had booked a room in the hotel. When the staff knocked on the door when it was time to check-out, there was no answer. There was no answer even after calling the room. When suspicious, the hotel staff informed the police. Both were found dead when the room was opened with a duplicate key in the presence of officials.

Brother and sister said goodbye to the world leaving Rs 6 lakh

Many bullets were also found in the room. Police suspect that he had consumed pills in excess. On searching the room, the police seized many documents including PAN card and driving license. Rs 6 lakh have also been recovered from the room. The suicide note found in the room read, 'Sorry, please forgive me'. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and the internal organs have been preserved for examination. Deceased Ganesh worked as a data analyst in a private company.
