PF claim rejected: The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a savings scheme that helps you secure financial stability for the future. However, in case of an emergency, we can withdraw a portion of the money deposited in our PF account. This requires filing a PF claim. However, sometimes, despite filing a claim, it gets rejected.

People often panic at such times. However, EPF claim rejection is more common than most people think. Sometimes, a claim is rejected due to minor mistakes or negligence, mismatched details, or technical difficulties. If your claim is rejected, we're going to tell you what you should do first through this news.

Reasons for PF Claim Rejection

There are several reasons why a PF claim may be rejected:

Errors in bank details - Incorrect bank account number or IFSC code, bank account not linked to UAN.

Discrepancies in KYC details - Even a small spelling error in the name, date of birth, or gender on your Aadhaar card, PAN card, or UAN portal can be a reason for a claim being rejected.

Unlinked UAN and Aadhaar - If your Aadhaar card is not linked to UAN, the system is often unable to process the claim.

Date of leaving the job - If your previous employer has not updated the correct date of your leaving the job on the portal, the claim may also be rejected.

Lack of eligibility - A minimum of 6 months of service is required for pension (Form 10c). If the amount is less than this, the final withdrawal may be rejected.

What to do if your claim is rejected?

If your PF claim is rejected, first check the status online to determine the exact reason. Then, correct any KYC errors (name, date of birth, bank details) or any errors such as missing employer approval, and reapply through the UAN portal. If the problem persists, you can file a complaint through the EPFiGMS portal or contact the EPFO office.
