Easter is not far away and supermarkets have been filling their shelves with chocolate delights for the last few weeks. Every year they seem to get more adventurous - and recently a milk-chocolate egg charged with a delicious taste of coffee left my tastebuds happy.
I've noticed that over the years, Easter eggs seem to be getting more adult-focused, with grown-up flavours appearing in beautifully-presented chocolate eggs. The Morrisons "Best Belgian Milk Chocolate Egg with Latte Crunch" certainly lives up to its name, I even savoured some for breakfast this morning. At a cost of £10 (£7.50 if you have a More Card) you do get a fair bit of chocolate for your money, but believe me, it won't last long.
I always check the ingredients of chocolate - and this Latte Egg is made of good quality stuff, there's no palm oil in the mix.
The Latte Egg encompasses a "smooth Belgian milk chocolate with an infusion of Arabica and Robusta coffee and a crisp feuilletine wafer", Morrisons explained on their website.
So when I bit into this one, I got three sensations and textures, firstly the smooth chocolate, which tastes creamy and sweet, secondly, the delicate texture of the feuilletine wafer.
Then, the coffee taste and texture hits the taste buds - and this combination of all three makes it taste just like a latte.
This is definitely a unique Easter egg and most certainly one for the coffee lovers, also it's not sickly sweet at all, which suits me.
The combination of all the ingredients almost lend to undertones of a dark chocolate taste - and the coffee flavour is just like having a sip of a latte at the same time, perfect.
For someone that prefers a caramel flavour, Morrisons have another tasty egg in this range, also retailing at £10 (or £7.50 if you have a More Card).
I've not tried this one, but The Best Blonde Chocolate With Caramel, Pretzel & Honeycomb Egg by Morrisons is another delicious-sounding one in the range alongside the Morrisons Best Belgian Milk Chocolate Egg with Latte Crunch.
These Easter eggs are both new to the supermarket this year - and they're already getting a lot of attention. Website Snack Reviews described the Latte Egg as "best suited to coffee lovers or those who prefer richer, less sugary Easter chocolate".
On its website, experts wrote that this "coffee-leaning Easter egg from Morrisons" seems to be "clearly aimed at grown-up chocolate fans".
The "coffee notes with added texture" makes for something a "little more interesting than a standard hollow egg", Snack Reviews reported - and I agree.
They concluded "Overall, it's a good option for anyone who enjoys coffee-flavoured chocolates or prefers Easter eggs that feel a bit richer and less sweet. It works well as a slower, break-off-and-share egg rather than something to rush through in one go."
