An Oscar-winning film showcasing Leonardo DiCaprio's "best performance" is now available on Netflix.

The Hollywood icon is aiming to secure the Best Actor accolade at this year's Academy Awards, broadcasting on ITV1 tonight (March 15).

He has received a nomination for his latest blockbuster, One Battle After Another, which has garnered 13 nominations in total.

As DiCaprio competes against fellow contenders including Timothée Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan, enthusiasts may wish to revisit his 2015 mystery thriller The Revenant.

Presently available on Netflix, the film is set in 1820s America as frontiersman Hugh Glass embarks on a fur trading expedition. When he is savaged by a bear and abandoned for dead by his team, Glass must rely on his survival skills to return to civilisation.

DiCaprio stars in the lead role as Glass, who is based on the real-life American hunter and explorer of the same name. Other prominent names also feature, including Tom Hardy, Will Poulter and Domnhall Gleeson.

The film received a nomination for Best Picture, with Hardy earning recognition in the Supporting Actor category. However, DiCaprio ultimately claimed his first ever Oscar for Best Actor.

Filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu also secured the Best Director award.

Whilst some cinema-goers believe DiCaprio should have won Oscars for his more celebrated films like The Wolf of Wall Street, others consider The Revenant contains his finest performance to date.

Taking to Rotten Tomatoes, one viewer praised: "[This is] the best performance of DiCaprio's career."

Another viewer lauded the adventure drama: "One of the greatest cinematic experiences both in technicality and spectacle. A modern masterpiece."

A third fan remarked: "One of my favourite movies to see in a theatre. The cinematography and Leos performance are all breath-taking."

Whilst a final cinema-goer commented: "Some of the best cinematography I have ever seen its beautifully disturbing in a good way. You cannot sit through this movie without being cold. If you haven't yet watch this!".

Should DiCaprio claim the Oscar tonight, he will become a two-time winner. In total, the 51 year old has amassed an impressive eight Academy Award nominations.
