Thiruvananthapuram: Genrobotics, an innovative startup located in Thiruvananthapuram, has landed a significant infrastructure deal valued at approximately Rs 80 crore with PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency. This achievement comes after the company surpassed over 600 competitors in a rigorous global evaluation.

The agreement entails the deployment of cutting-edge robotic technologies to enhance the management of Singapore’s sewer and water systems. The contract was secured following an extensive 18-month international review that assessed the firm's technological prowess, dependability, and performance in challenging environments.

Established in 2015 by a team of four engineers—Vimal Govind MK, Arun George, Nikhil NP, and Rashid K—Genrobotics has gained acclaim for its development of robotic solutions aimed at eliminating dangerous manual labor in sanitation tasks.

The company's flagship innovation, the Bandicoot robot, is a sophisticated robotic system engineered to clean manholes and sewer lines without necessitating human entry into hazardous underground areas.

This system is outfitted with cameras, sensors, and robotic arms, enabling it to inspect subterranean structures and extract waste from confined spaces, thereby significantly mitigating the dangers associated with manual scavenging.

For the Singapore initiative, Genrobotics plans to deploy around 44 robotic units over the next two years. These machines will be utilized for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining underground water infrastructure, which includes sewer wells, stormwater drains, and industrial tanks.

A notable technology being introduced in this project is the Wilboar, a robotic rover designed to function in confined and perilous environments where human access is limited or unsafe.

Equipped with advanced cameras and sensors, the rover can carry out cleaning and inspection tasks while relaying real-time data regarding the conditions of underground infrastructure.

Over the years, Genrobotics has garnered investments from several notable investors, including Unicorn India Ventures, SEA Fund, and industrialist Anand Mahindra.

In 2022, Zoho Corporation invested Rs 20 crore in the startup to facilitate the expansion of its robotics manufacturing and technology development.

According to the company's reports, Genrobotics achieved a revenue of Rs 32 crore in the financial year 2025.
