In some areas, the demand for induction cooktops has surged three- to fourfold due to a shortage of gas cylinders. Induction cooktops are rapidly becoming people's first choice. Driven by the rising prices of gas cylinders and their ease of use, people are increasingly incorporating induction cooking into their kitchens.

However, due to a lack of proper information, people often make mistakes that not only lead to higher electricity bills but also compromise the device's lifespan and safety. Therefore, if you are currently using an induction cooktop, be sure to avoid these four common mistakes:

Turning on an Empty Induction Cooktop
Many people still make the mistake of switching on the induction cooktop *before* placing a vessel on it. Doing so can be dangerous and may even damage the appliance. Additionally, ensure that you place the vessel directly within the circular ring marked on the induction surface; otherwise, the vessel will not heat up properly, and you may encounter difficulties while cooking.

Neglecting Ventilation
An induction cooktop should always be placed in a well-ventilated area. If there is insufficient airflow, the unit may overheat. Furthermore, induction cooktops are equipped with an internal cooling fan designed to continuously dissipate heat. Therefore, ensure that the vents—the designated outlets for heat release—remain unobstructed.

Handling with Wet Hands
Touching or operating an induction cooktop with wet hands significantly increases the risk of electric shock. This constitutes a major safety oversight. Many people habitually begin cooking on an induction cooktop with wet hands—a practice that could potentially lead to a serious accident one day.

Using Incorrect Power Settings
Induction cooktops feature various power level settings tailored to different cooking tasks. Cooking exclusively at high power levels consumes excessive electricity and can also result in food being overcooked or ruined. Therefore, regardless of what you are preparing, always take a moment to adjust the power settings appropriately before you begin cooking.
