There is good news for candidates preparing for government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board (UPSSSC) has released the notification for the 2026 recruitment of Boring Technicians within the UP Minor Irrigation Department. Applications are invited from candidates who have passed the 10th grade and possess the requisite certification. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for May 5, 2026. However, the UPSSSC has clarified that only those candidates who hold a valid score card from the Uttar Pradesh Preliminary Eligibility Test (UPPET) 2025 are eligible to apply for the 2026 Boring Technician recruitment in the UP Minor Irrigation Department. In other words, only candidates who appeared for the UPPET 2025 can apply for the UP Minor Irrigation Boring Technician recruitment of 2026.

Let us find out how many posts for Boring Technicians the UP Minor Irrigation Department has opened for recruitment. We will also explore the minimum UPPET 2025 score required to participate in this recruitment process, as well as the specific educational qualifications required.

No Opportunity for Candidates Scoring Zero or Less in UPPET 2025

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board (UPSSSC) has made the UPPET 2025 a mandatory prerequisite for participation in the 2026 Boring Technician recruitment drive within the UP Minor Irrigation Department. The UPSSSC has explicitly stated that candidates for the main examination—part of the Boring Technician recruitment process—will be selected based on a merit list derived from their normalized scores in the UPPET 2025. Candidates who secure a raw score or a normalized score of zero or less in the UPPET 2025 will not be shortlisted for the main examination.

Certificate Mandatory in Addition to 10th Grade Qualification

Regarding the educational qualifications prescribed for the 2026 Boring Technician recruitment by the UP Minor Irrigation Department, candidates who have passed the 10th grade are eligible to apply; however, such candidates must also possess a certificate for the 'Tube-well Mechanic' course issued by the ITI, Lal Diggi Park, Gorakhpur. Additionally, candidates holding diplomas in Machine Mechanic, Fitter, Wireman, or Turner trades—issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT)—are also eligible to apply for this recruitment. The UPSSSC has stated that a certificate for the Tubewell Mechanic course issued by the ITI, Lal Diggi Park, Gorakhpur—or an equivalent certificate from any other government-recognized Tubewell Mechanic course—will be considered valid for this recruitment.
