New Delhi: An Indian-origin founder is making noise in the fast-moving AI tools space, and this time, it is not another chatbot. The product is called Moda, and it wants to change how people design things using AI.

The startup has raised $7.5 million from General Catalyst and Pear VC. The founder, Anvisha Pai, is pitching Moda as a “design agent with taste,” a line that clearly targets the growing frustration with messy AI-generated visuals.

What is Moda, and why is it getting attention

Moda aims to fix a problem many users already complain about. AI tools can generate images fast, but the results often look random and hard to edit. Anvisha directly calls this “AI slop” and says current tools lack brand alignment.

Anvisha says her platform works differently. It combines a canvas similar to tools like Figma or Canva with AI agents that understand design principles, research layouts, and learn about a brand over time.

How the AI agents actually work

Anvisha explains that the agents “work alongside you in a canvas where you still have full control” and they “continually learn, so your designs keep getting better and better as you use it.”

This means the tool adapts to your style over time. It is less about one-click results and more about building consistency. That is something many designers struggle with when using current AI tools.

In the past month alone, more than 3,000 users have used Moda for real work. This includes tasks like fundraising decks, sales material, brand campaigns, conference booths, and even packaging design.

Who is Anvisha Pai?

Anvisha’s story adds another layer. She says she grew up in India, moved to the US at 17, studied at MIT, and built a previous company valued at $300 million.

She frames Moda as something built for everyday users, including her own family. She says they are building AI as a partner and collaborator, not something that replaces jobs but something that amplifies creativity.

As of now, Moda is still early, but the idea of AI agents working inside creative tools feels like something we will see more of very soon.
