Namma Yatri parent Moving Tech Innovations has acquired Netherlands-based mobility startup Automicle to enter the European market. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the acquisition, the startup plans to extend its zero-commission mobility model internationally, building on its open, interoperable approach to urban transportation

Founded in 2022 by Amit Pal, Mohit Mishra and Jef Heyse, Automicle develops digital mobility solutions such as smart parking systems and integrated public transport platforms. It works with city authorities across Europe and focuses on interoperable, standards-based infrastructure.

“We proved that zero-commission models work (with Namma Yatri), that drivers deserve dignity and better earnings, and that public transport can be seamlessly integrated. With Automicle, we are taking those learnings beyond India. These are not local solutions; they are universal principles. Cities everywhere are seeking a mobility model that is open and community-led,” Moving Tech Innovations’ Magizhan and Shan MS said in a joint statement.

Namma Yatri was launched by Juspay in collaboration with the Beckn Foundation and support of Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union ARDU in 2022 . It began as an auto hailing platform in Bengaluru and has since expanded to cities such as Chennai, Delhi, Kochi, Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Kolkata.

In November 2023, Juspay hived off Namma Yatri, along with other mobility platforms Yatri Sathi, Bharat Taxi and Chennai One, into a separate entity — Moving Tech Innovations. To date, the mobility startup has raised over $15 Mn, including $11 Mn in its Series A round in 2024 from investors like Blume Ventures and Antler.

Over time, the Bengaluru-based startup has broadened its services by introducing cab offerings in April 2024 and later adding rental options as it competes with players like Uber and Ola. It also stands out as one of the early adopters of a zero commission model in India’s ride hailing space.

Across its platforms Namma Yatri, Yatri Sathi, Bharat Taxi, and Chennai One, the startup said it has facilitated over 150 Mn trips, enabling driver earnings of more than ₹2,500Cr without charging commissions.

This marks Namma Yatri’s first international acquisition. Back in 2024, it was said to be eyeing expansion into the US market in partnership with taxi unions. It had also initiated talks with several American taxi unions as part of its expansion strategy. However, there have been no developments on this front since then.

On the domestic front, competition in the ride hailing segment is intensifying. While Prosus-backed unicorn Rapido seems to be comfortably in the lead in the segment, rival Uber is actively looking to diversify its product offerings to strengthen its revenue mix. For instance, earlier today, Inc42 reported that the company pulled the plug on shuttle operations in Delhi NCR to focus extensively on B2B employee transportation.

Besides, Uber also partnered with ixigo-owned AbhiBus to launch intercity bus ticketing services in India earlier this month.

Meanwhile, erstwhile Rapido, Uber competitor Ola is losing market share to the incumbents as well as new players like state-backed Bharat Taxi. In February, Home minister Amit Shah unveiled the government-backed ride hailing platform ‘Bharat Taxi’ to empower the cab drivers.

As of late March 2026, the government-backed Bharat Taxi app surpassed 2.7 Mn downloads, reflecting strong initial adoption in the Indian ride-hailing market

Overall, India’s ride-hailing and mobility market is projected to reach $34.87 Bn by 2031, with increasing focus on sustainable unit economics and a gradual shift from commission-based models to subscription-driven approaches.
