A batter holding the bat straight for a few seconds after the sweet shot- Pathum Nissanka gifted exactly this scene to the fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 9, while playing for the Capitals against Gujarat Titans. DC captain Axar Patel asked GT to bat first to which the guest put 210 on the board.
And DC gave a good start, thanks to Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul leading the charge. However, one moment caught the eyes, in the very first over, when Nissanka held his bat in position after hitting a straight drive of Mohammed Siraj.
He produced an authoritative straight drive, taking a small stride forward before bringing his hands down quickly through the line of the ball. The swing flowed beautifully, finishing around rib height, while he held his shape perfectly for the cameras to capture the moment. A classy way to close out the over at 0.6.

However, Nissanka survived 23 balls before Prasidh Krishna ended the show at the 24th ball. In the first ball of the 9th over, Prasidh hit a hard length just outside off with a slightly scrambled seam, drawing Pathum Pathum Nissanka into the shot. The delivery was a touch too close and not quite full enough for the flat-batted slash across the line, leading to a mistimed hit. The ball went low towards mid-off, where the fielder completed a neat catch. Nissanka, disappointed, tossed his bat forward with a little spin as he departed scoring 41 runs.
