The Royal Challengers Bengaluru inflicted a comprehensive 5-wicket defeat over the Lucknow Super Giants in the 23rd Indian Premier League 2026 fixture held at M Chinnaswamy stadium. The disciplined bowling followed by a composed chasing display was a perfect recipe for RCB's continuing success in the current tournament.

RCB Bowlers Do a Magnificent Job to Bundle LSG at 146

Having asked to bat, the Lucknow Super Giants stuttered in their innings and managed to reach a modest total of 146 in 20 overs. The batting contribution from Mitchell Marsh was significant, as he hammered a scintillating 40 runs in 32 deliveries. While Ayush Badoni (38) and Mukul Choudhary (39) chipped in useful runs in the middle order, the other batter collapsed like a house of cards. Both Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran failed to impress in the batting department and could not sustain the innings.

The bowlers from the Royal Challengers were remarkable throughout. Rasikh Salam Dar emerged the hero with the ball in hand, finishing with the figures of 4/24. Bhuvneshwar Kumar complimented Dar in style, picking up three wickets while Krunal Pandya managed to strike twice in the fixture to put LSG in deeper trouble. Despite several crucial partnerships in the middle, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and LSG was always expected to fall short of a big total.

Kohli Top Scores in RCB's Easy Chase

Chasing a modest 147 for victory, RCB got off to a steady start although they lost Philip Salt in the initial stages. Virat Kohli took control of the innings with a solid 49 from 34 deliveries, easing his team toward the total.

Devdutt Padikkal was the ideal second fiddle although Rajat Patidar brought more aggression, whacking 27 from 13 balls, while Jitesh Sharma provided even more with a blistering 23 from 9 balls.

Despite losing a few quick wickets in the middle order, the target never seemed far away and a calm performance in the latter stages from Tim David and Romario Shepherd, saw the chasing side home with 29 balls to spare.

From the LSG side, Prince Yadav picked up 3 wickets, while Avesh Khan added 2 but it wasn't enough on the day to chase the 146.
