BLACKPINK Jisoo brother controversy: Several new twists in the story about Jisoo and her older brother, Kim Jung-Hoon, have gotten K-pop fans talking again. Earlier this year, allegations came out against Jung-Hoon, and now there are reports saying Jisoo might have pulled away from him even before everything went public.

People really started buzzing when they saw Jung-Hoon’s name in the credits for Jisoo’s Netflix project, Boyfriend on Demand. That credit set off debate online, with fans wondering if he was still working with her right before all the controversy broke out.

Did Blackpink’s Jisoo cut ties with brother Kim Jung-Hoon?

Entertainment journalist Lee Jin Ho addressed the controversy, claiming that Jisoo and her family had already cut ties with Kim Jung-Hoon before the scandal became widely known. Explaining the timeline, he said the drama was filmed between October 2024 and May 2025. During that period, Kim reportedly assisted his sister informally.

“He helped her during that time. In addition to supporting her as a brother, he temporarily played the role of a representative,” Lee explained. However, Lee added that the relationship changed after the controversy surrounding Kim Jung-Hoon surfaced. “After the hidden camera scandal, he didn’t just lose Jisoo’s trust but also that of the entire family, and he was completely excluded from any work related to Jisoo,” he said.

Agency clarifies professional independence

Jisoo’s agency BLISSOO Entertainment has also emphasised that the company operates independently and denied that Kim Jung-Hoon holds any official role within it. According to the report, there are no corporate records listing him as a director, auditor or shareholder. Lee further noted that his involvement appeared to be informal and based on family support rather than an official position.

Why did his name appear in the credits?

Lee also explained why Kim Jung-Hoon’s name initially appeared in the project credits. The listing reportedly came from production materials used during filming and was included automatically in the final edit. When Jisoo noticed the credit on March 6, 2026, she was reportedly shocked and upset. The singer strongly objected and asked the production team to remove the name from the end credits.

According to reports, editing the master version costs more than 10 million Korean won. Despite the expense, Jisoo reportedly chose to pay the amount herself to ensure the credit was removed. The situation continues to attract attention as Kim Jung-Hoon remains under police investigation.
