Mumbai: Maharashtra is ready to act as a reliable partner to further strengthen the relationship between India and Vietnam. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserted that the state government is committed to strengthening cultural, economic and mutual ties with Vietnam. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the India-Vietnam Business Forum organized during the one-day visit of Vietnam President To Lam to Mumbai. On this occasion, he appealed to Vietnamese entrepreneurs to come to the state for investment.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President To Lam for strengthening India-Vietnam partnership and taking the ‘Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ to a new level. While telling about the rich heritage of Buddhism in Maharashtra, the Chief Minister introduced the adhisthana which Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar accepted Buddhism and got it in modern times in Nagpur. It also welcomed Vietnamese investors to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ajanta and the Buddhist and Jain Caves of Verul. He also proposed to develop a separate Buddhist tourism circuit between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ho Chi Minh City, including starting a direct air service.
Stating similarities between Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the recent agreement between the two cities. He also welcomed the proposed investment deal of 6.5 billion US dollars in Maharashtra by the Vietnam company Vingroup and said that this is the biggest deal from South East Asia.
Giving information about the industrial opportunities in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune, Nagpur, Gadchiroli etc., Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed to Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in various sectors like industry, energy, pharmaceuticals, information technology, tourism. He also mentioned that the pharmaceutical sector in Mumbai and Pune is world-class and the state has the capacity to reliably supply affordable generic drugs and vaccines to Vietnam. The Chief Minister also proposed to hold the Maharashtra-Vietnam Business Conference every year alternately in Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City. Expressing happiness over the first visit of the Vietnamese delegation to Mumbai, he thanked the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for his cooperation in this visit.

To strengthen the comprehensive economic partnership between India and Vietnam, the President of Vietnam To Lam asserted the need for joint initiatives in the fields of industry, technology, infrastructure and trade. President To Lam mentioned that Mumbai is the major economic and industrial center of India and this program organized here will give a new direction to India-Vietnam relations. He said that economic cooperation, new opportunities in globalization and reliable partnerships are becoming increasingly important in the changing global situation.
Stating that India-Vietnam bilateral trade is continuously increasing, President To Lam mentioned that this is strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries. He said that there are great opportunities for cooperation between India and Vietnam in the fields of electric vehicles, infrastructure, technology services, energy and industry. He explained that many Indian companies are operating in Vietnam in various fields and this cooperation is important for the future trade and manufacturing sector.
President To Lam said that trade facilitation, increasing economic cooperation, strengthening infrastructure and logistics connectivity, promoting skill development and facilitating the investment process will be emphasized to make bilateral cooperation more effective. He also said that both the countries should take advantage of each other’s experiences to increase cooperation in the field of trade. He appealed to Indian companies to invest more in Vietnam and exchange experience and technology. On this occasion, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and President To Lam of Vietnam, MoUs were signed between industries in various sectors of both the countries.
