Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the approval of a new MEMU rail service connecting Delhi and Faridabad, describing it as a step aimed at improving daily commuting in the National Capital Region.
In her statement, Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the service. She said the new MEMU train is expected to benefit thousands of passengers who travel daily between Delhi and Faridabad for work, education, and other purposes.
According to the Chief Minister, the rail service is designed to offer faster travel and reduce dependence on road transport, which could help ease traffic congestion on major routes connecting Delhi and surrounding NCR cities. She also noted that the service is expected to lower daily travel expenses for regular commuters.
The Delhi–Faridabad corridor remains one of the busiest commuter routes in the NCR region, with large numbers of office-goers and students relying on public transportation each day. Officials expect the addition of the MEMU service to strengthen regional rail connectivity and improve accessibility for passengers travelling between the two cities.
