A Death in Paradise legend is joining forces with a Strictly star for a dark mystery drama. Ralf Little was welcomed to BBC's Death in Paradise back in January 2020 as highly neurotic DI Neville Parker, who wasn't exactly lucky in love.

But by the time he said his goodbyes in 2024, Neville was sailing off into the sunset with DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) on his arm.

Two years after his departure, Little is now set to star in Channel 4's upcoming twisted thriller, Hunting Alice Bell, a "whodunnit with shades of family drama and social satire". And going by its official synopsis, the six-part drama is going to be a lot darker than what Death in Paradise fans are used to seeing from Little.

Hunting Alice Bell revolves around the idea of the titular character, a former nurse and the lover and accomplice of a "notorious anesthetist serial killer".

She currently lives in the UK under a new identity, but when Fran Da Silva is accused of being Alice Bell online, "her happy family life implodes into a wave of mob hate".

The synopsis continues: Then she discovers she's not the only woman to suffer this fate. Fran and the other accused women band together to fight back and clear their names. But as they battle to prove their innocence, what if one of the group is lying - and is the real Alice Bell?"

Little is known about the character Graham Hunter, who will be portrayed by Little, but further clues about his role in the Channel 4 series aren't yet available.

He is going to be joined by the likes of Nightsleeper's Alexandra Roach as Fran, Sherlock and Strictly Come Dancing star Amanda Abbington as Julie, Mobland's Emily Barber as Vanessa, and Shaun of the Dead icon Simon Pegg as Dr Jason Nash.

Hunting Alice Bell, which will delve into the "devastating effects" caused by rumours, will be airing later this year, but no release date has been confirmed.

Co-creator David Baddiel commented, "Technology has created a whole new spin on the idea of mistaken identity.

"We are told that in the present culture, anyone can be who they want to be. But that also means that anyone can have who they are taken away from them: the hive mind can decide who you are.

"This happens to the five women in Hunting Alice Bell: in a world where identity is very fluid, they have lost control of theirs."

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
