FASTag Types: FASTag system has become very important to make traveling on national highways in India easier and faster. This electronic toll collection system facilitates seamless payment at toll plazas. To collect toll tax correctly and to make identification of vehicles easier, FASTag is divided into different categories and colors.

Categories of FASTag according to vehicles

According to the type of vehicles, FASTag is divided into different classes:

Class 4 (Purple Tag): For cars, jeeps, vans and small vehicles.
Class 5 (orange tag): For light commercial vehicles (LCV).
Class 6 (yellow tag): For 3-axle trucks and buses.
Class 7 (green tag): For 2-axle buses and trucks.
Class 12: For large vehicles with 4 to 6 axles.
Class 15: For heavy vehicles with 7 or more axles.
Class 16: For heavy construction machinery and earth moving equipment.
Types of FASTag based on account

FASTag is also divided into three parts on the basis of account management:

Bank based FASTag: It is directly linked to the bank account. It can be taken from banks like SBI, HDFC, ICICI and Axis Bank.
Wallet based FASTag: In this, like a prepaid wallet, money has to be added first.
NHAI/IHMCL FASTag: It can be purchased from toll plaza or authorized center and later linked to the bank account.

How to recharge FASTag?
FASTag can be easily recharged through any authorized bank, digital payment app or NHAI portal. Users can purchase a new tag or update balance as per their convenience.
