A woman has been praised for sharing her fool-proof method to repel spiders from entering your home - as she claims it works every time.

Lucy Kalice has taken to social media to share how she banishes the eight-legged creatures from her home to prevent unwanted jump scares. In her clip, which generated more than 121,000 likes, she says: "If you're someone who hates spiders then this video is for you. I'm trying out spider-proofing my house with tea tree oil. Apparently, you're meant to use peppermint oil but I didn't have any to hand - but tea tree oil does the same job."

From there, she is seen dabbing tea tree oil onto a cotton pad before wiping down her door and window frames. She adds: "I did the back door, the front door, and then I moved onto the windows. You may or may not know, it's actually spider season at the moment. I'm getting reminded daily about this and there are spiders popping up everywhere. Hopefully, this will work."

According to Pest UK, autumn marks the start of spider season in the UK as the creatures venture indoors in search of shelter and warmth. Backing Lucy's tip, a statement on their website reads: "Strong smells are a natural way to deter spiders from entering your home. Smells such as lemon, lime, oranges, and anything with a strong citrus aroma, help repel spiders. Also, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, or peppermint oil.

"Vinegar is another strong scent to help repel spiders, but most people aren’t too keen on vinegar lingering around their homes. Rub or spray around window sills and doors with these scents to help prevent spiders from entering." Commenting on Lucy's video, one user said: "Tea tree oil washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle works every time - best thing ever for spiders."

Another user added: "Yesterday I saw four in the same area of the living room in the space of 15 minutes, one was bigger than the palm of my hand. I wish I was exaggerating." A third user said: "Every strand of hair tickle on my face or neck instantly makes me think there is a spider on me."

One more user added: "I did this and mopped my whole house with peppermint oil after having two monsters in my house." A final user said: "I dealt with four monstrous spiders and ordered oil for next-day delivery. I have had enough."
