CBSE Withdraws Affiliation Of 21 Schools, Downgrades 6 After Surprise Inspections In Delhi & Rajasthan Abplive  |  2024-11-06 19:11:04





The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections on September 3, 2024 across 27 schools in Rajasthan and Delhi. These schools, all affiliated with CBSE, were checked primarily to ensure they complied with mandatory student attendance norms as stipulated by the Board’s Affiliation and Examination Bye-Laws. CBSE’s focus on this issue aims to uphold educational integrity by addressing the practice of "dummy" or non-attending admissions, which undermine students' foundational growth.


The inspections led to Show Cause Notices being issued to several schools, giving them a 30-day response period to address identified irregularities. Based on detailed reviews of the replies and supported by video evidence, CBSE took decisive actions, including:



  • Withdrawal of Affiliation: 21 schools lost their affiliation due to substantial numbers of non-attending students in classes IX through XII.

  • Downgrading of Schools: 6 schools were downgraded from Senior Secondary to Secondary level.


"As India’s leading national education board with a global reach, CBSE remains committed to advancing educational standards and fostering holistic development. These actions reinforce the Board’s stance against dummy or non-attending enrollments, signaling a zero-tolerance policy and encouraging affiliated institutions to prioritize lawful and ethical educational practices," said CBSE in a notice.
