On New Year’s Eve, Yusuke Kobayashi and Yumi Uchiyama, two Japanese voice actors, announced their marriage to the fans. The long-standing professional relationship between the co-stars of The Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has officially developed into a romantic one.
Uchiyama tweeted, “To all our supporters and everyone involved, I, Yumi Uchiyama, would like to announce that I have married voice actor Yusuke Kobayashi. Moving forward, we will continue to support one another and strive to improve, never forgetting or gratitude. We kindly ask for your continued support.”
While Yusuke posted an identical yet curated tweet on X, “I, Yusuke Kobayashi, would like to announce that I have married voice actor Yumi Uchiyama. With gratitude in my heart for everyone who has supported us so far, I will continue to strive forward. I kindly ask for your continued encouragement and support.”
Renowned voice actor Yuki Kaji, who is renowned for bringing to life the characters Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan, Kenma Kozume from Haikyuu, Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia, and others, congratulated the newlyweds and noted that they had a deep bond since they were teenagers because they went to the same voice acting school.
He penned, “Kobayashi-kun! Congratulations on your marriage. You and your partner are classmates from the same voice acting school from when you were teens. I was deeply moved when I met Uchiyama-san. I’m so happy!! Wishing you a long and happy life together.”
The now married couple voiced for the characters of Candice Catnipp and Royd Lloyd in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and have consequently collaborated on a number of projects, including Fire Force, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, and RE:ZERO—Starting Life in Another World.
Kobayashi have particularly worked in Fire Force and Dr. Stone, among others. Uchiyama, meanwhile, has been a constant presence in March Comes in Like a Lion, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, and other works.
