Ingredients required to make Dalia Idli:
– Dalia (coarse wheat flour) – 1 cup
– Semolina – 1/2 cup
– Curd – 1 cup
– Water – as required
– Eno Fruit Salt – 1 tsp
– Salt – as per taste
– Carrot (grated) – 1/4 cup
– Peas – 2 tbsp (boiled)
– Green chilli (finely chopped) – 1
– Ginger (grated) – 1/2 tsp
– Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon (chopped)
– Oil – to grease the idli mold
How to make Dalia Idli
1. Fry Oatmeal:
– Fry oatmeal and semolina separately in a pan until light golden.
– Let them cool.
2. Prepare the solution:
– Mix roasted oatmeal, semolina and curd in a bowl.
– Prepare a thick but flowable solution by adding water as required.
– Add carrots, peas, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves and salt to it.
– Keep it covered for 10-15 minutes.
3. Add Eno:
– Just before making idli, add eno to the batter and mix gently.
4. Steam Idlis:
– Grease the idli mold with oil.
– Pour the prepared solution into the mold.
– Cook idli in a steamer for 10-12 minutes.
– Check by inserting a knife, if the knife comes out clean then the idli is cooked.
5. Serve:
– Serve porridge idli hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
