With his thrilling performance at Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes on January 23, 2025 (January 24 KST), BTS J-Hope recently lit the stage on fire. French First Lady Brigitte Macron coordinated the event, which was held at the Paris La Défense Arena, to raise money for French pediatric hospitals. High-energy renditions of MIC Drop (orchestra version), MORE, and On the Street (solo version) were included in Jhope’s set list. But the MIC Drop performance was the one that had the ARMYs giddy with anticipation.
BTS fans, sometimes referred to as ARMYs, are still talking about one particularly memorable moment from the concert days later: when J-Hope sang MIC Drop alone, the audience let out the biggest fan chant ever. Fans enthusiastically sang the whole BTS name sequence even though just one member was on stage:
“Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Ho Seok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!”
This stirring event demonstrated the steadfast love and support that BTS still receives. ARMYs have shown their steadfast commitment despite the group’s current break. As one ARMY put it, “Bangtan is here to stay and slay!” Many fans noted that internet rumors that BTS was going extinct had been totally disproved by this time.
The ARMYs’ impassioned singing of Suga’s famous stanza in MIC Drop, particularly the lyric “Mianhae eomma” (Sorry, Mom), was another highlight of the evening. Even though Jhope performed alone, many pointed out how important it was that he included this segment. Many people think it was a conscious declaration that BTS is here to stay.
In addition to wishing Seollal 2025 well, Jhope personally recognized this momentous occasion by posting a video of the performance on his Instagram story. The relationship between BTS members and their fans was further strengthened by this. In the words of one ARMY, “This sequence speaks volumes.” He had the option to exclude Suga’s stanza, but he chose not to. “BTS has returned, and they intend to stay and dominate.”
The thunderous fan clamor and the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Jhope’s performance demonstrate how hungry ARMYs are for BTS to reunite as a whole. Words from RM’s 2021 smash, Butter, were also repeated in the moment: “ARMYs right behind us when we say so.” If anything, this performance demonstrated that the world is prepared for BTS and ARMYs’ triumphant comeback and that they are still stronger than ever.
