Actor Jaideep Ahlawat recently opened up about his friendly rivalry with fellow actors Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Varma .
In an interview with Puja Talwar, Jaideep shared how the three of them celebrate each other’s successes but also have a playful competitive streak.
Talking about their journey, Jaideep said, “Every actor waits for the day they find success. All you can do is be ready for that one memorable role. Maybe a decade ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do Paatal Lok. But once an actor is prepared, good things come their way. Today, seeing all three of us nominated for awards, something we never imagined back then, is surreal.”
Jaideep then recalled how Vijay Varma reacted after he won an award for Maharaj, where they were nominated in the same category. “Vijay was happy for me that day, but the next day, he was giving me gaaliyan, saying, ‘Ye mera award kha gaya’ (he stole my award). It’s funny and healthy, it aligns your system,” Jaideep said with a laugh.
For those unaware, Jaideep, Rajkummar, and Vijay have known each other since their days at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 2005. Their friendship has spanned years, and they even worked together in the 2012 film 'Chittagong'. More recently, Jaideep and Vijay shared the screen in Jaane Jaan alongside Kareena Kapoor .
