In Khanpur, Uttarakhand, there was a dispute between former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion and current MLA Umesh Kumar. Whose videos were fiercely viral on social media. Now farmer leader Rakesh Tikait is trying to resolve this dispute. The leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union has met Kunwarani Devyani Singh, wife of the champion and former BJP MLA Sanjay Gupta from Luxor at the state guest house at Dam Kothi.
During this, Rakesh Tikait urged him and supporters not to let this quarrel take the form of caste -based conflict, because it will be harmful to the society. While the champions are from the Gujjar community, Kumar comes from the Brahmin community.
After the meeting, Tikait said that both Gujjar and Brahmin communities have been working together for the unity and integrity of the country for centuries. If this dispute is made caste, then its effect will be seen in every village.
Rakesh Tikait said that he will try to resolve the matter by taking the responsible people of the society. He has justified the police action in the case. Tikait said that if there is a mutual agreement between the two, then the cases filed on both sides should be withdrawn.
Tikait met the champion in Haridwar District Jail, where he was recently sent to judicial custody by the court on charges of firing at Kumar's camp office.
There was also several rounds of firing in the dispute between the former MLA and the current MLA. After which both were arrested. However, Umesh Kumar was immediately granted bail, while Kunwar Pranab Singh Champion was sent on remand. This is the reason that resentment in Gurjar society is increasing. This action has been described by the society as partisan. The workers demand that if not released by 5 February, the movement will be intensified.
