Novak Djokovic's injury update: When will he return to action?

As per reports, tennis star Novak Djokovic is all set to make a comeback in two weeks' time, after suffering a hamstring injury during the 2025 Australian Open last month.

The Serbian player's medical scan reports have indicated that the injury is not as bad as initially feared.

This paves the way for his participation in the upcoming ATP 500 event in Doha.

Injury details

Djokovic's hamstring injury came to light during his quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open.

He was seen struggling and took a medical timeout. Although he returned to the game with a strapped left thigh, he secured a place in the semi-final.

However, Djokovic lost the opening set against Alexander Zverev in the semi-final before retiring due to his injury.

Recovery progress

After returning to Serbia, Djokovic has been receiving daily therapies and treatments for his hamstring injury. His medical team has now cleared him to resume practice in a few days.

This development contradicts initial reports which suggested he might be out for months, with a possible return at the French Open.

If his recovery stays on track, Djokovic could return at the Doha Open starting February 17.

Career focus

Djokovic has already stated that he is no longer chasing ATP Finals or rankings. His focus now is on playing for the national side and competing in Grand Slam tournaments.

Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, hasn't won one since his US Open triumph in September 2023.

He is yet to break legend Margaret Court's record of winning 24 majors.
