's widow Jessica Holmes was flooded with support as she posted an emotional tribute to her late husband.


The A Place in the Sun at the age of 50 after a battle with lung cancer. Jonnie left behind Jessica, who he married in 2016, and their three children; Rex, six, and four-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.


Jessica shared open and honest accounts about Jonnie's battle with the illness before his death and has continued sharing glimpses into her family life since Jonnie's passing.


On Saturday evening, Jessica shared an image of Jonnie with one of their boys alonside a poignant message, writing: "What I would do to have you here with us. Rex is just the best, the twins are hilarious. They look after me and they just remind me of you every day. X."


In response to the heartfelt post, Jessica's friends and followers poured their support into the comments section.


Nicki Chapman, who worked with Jonnie on Escape to the Country, extended her love, remarking: "Huge amounts of love. How proud he is of you."




Another wrote: "You are the best. You inspire me all the time just watching you handle everything! and the boys are simply amazing."


Admiring Jessica's resilience, a third added: "Your strength amazes me. They look after you and you teach us all."


A fourth posted: "You must miss Jonnie terribly. He was a force of nature and we only got to see him on TV but you will always have him every day your boys are part of you both."


Someone else shared: "Sending you all my love. I know that you miss him every day, but today will be so hard. Stay strong lovely lady."


Jasmine Harman, Jonnie's co-host on A Place in the Sun, paid tribute to her late friend in a touching post on Instagram.


The 49-year-old wrote: "Dear Jonnie, I miss you. Time goes by too quickly. A year already. The hole that you left behind will never be filled. You were (and you still are) an inspiration to so so many people, myself included."



The presenter continued: Love and thoughts to your wonderful family and amazing friends. Someone sent me the first photo of Jonnie and I together, in Cape Town with our first ever house-hunters Inge and Robert.


"And the last photo, taken on Jonnie's 50th birthday in Spain. 20 years of friendship between these two snaps. A million memories. Jonnie, such a fun and special and brave person. You will never be forgotten. Forever in our hearts."


Jasmine's A Place in the Sun co-stars including Danni Menzies, Craig Rowe, and Lucy Alexander joined fans in expressing their condolences, sharing heart emojis to signify their support.


In November 2022, Jonnie revealed that he had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer back in 2020. After initially keeping his illness private, the dad-of-three decided to speak publicly after being told the cancer had spread from his lungs to his brain.


At the time, Jonnie said he hoped his diagnosis would inspire people to "make the most of every day".
