Mumbai-Pune Expressway: According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the Rs 1,100-crore elevated corridor project will be finished by February 2027 and would improve connection between the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sealink (MTHL). It is anticipated that the project would improve regional connections and reduce traffic, especially on NH-348.

There are two raised corridors in the project:
-From Gavan Phata to the Chirle end of MTHL
-From the Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Palaspe Phata
Between Chirle and Gavan Phata, a six-lane elevated corridor will be built above the JNPT–Panvel National Highway (NH-348). This project will also include rebuilding service roads. In the Raigad district, a comparable six-lane elevated corridor will be constructed beside the Old Mumbai-Pune National Highway (NH-48), which would also be widened to six lanes.
According to an Indian Express report, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, stated, “By seamlessly integrating Atal Setu with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, we are ensuring efficient traffic dispersal and eliminating congestion at crucial junctions, particularly on NH-348, which carries a significant load of multi-axle container traffic from JNPT.”
At a cost of Rs 1102.75 crore, Gawar Construction Ltd is preparing the corridors. Excavation is now underway, signaling the start of this important infrastructural development.
Details of the Elevated Corridor
With a total length of 1,700 meters in the Palaspe part and 4,958 meters in the Chirle section, the elevated corridors will ease traffic and increase accessibility, which will spur economic development in the area.
